National Volunteer Week is April 19th through April 25th

Letter from the top:

April 20, 2020

Dear Valued DFW Airport Ambassador Volunteer,

We celebrate you from afar during this National Volunteer Appreciation Week!

While we may not be able to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you in-person, please know we wish you a heartfelt thank you for being a part of our volunteer program.

Your dedicated service to our customers truly transforms travel at DFW Airport for millions of people every year. From a simple smile and nod, to taking the time to walk a customer from one end of the terminal to another end, the care and intention you exhibit is priceless.

During National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we hope you take time to appreciate each other and yourself, reflecting on the multitude of connections you’ve made over the months and years. You are an important part of the DFW Airport family.

Stay safe during this time and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Ken Buchanan

Dear Ambassadors, it is hard to believe that it has been almost a month since we have seen all your sweet faces. We hope that each of you are doing well and that you have been able to find joy in each day as we navigate these uncharted waters. You can rest assured that you are missed, and we are looking forward to the day we are able to be together again so we can continue to meet the needs of our passengers in the way that only you can!

In recognition of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we express our sincerest gratitude to all Ambassadors, Navigators and K-9 Crew teams! You are unforgettable because you plant seeds of kindness every day! You always remember to spread cheer. Your caring ways nurture others, and you help our program grow and prosper. Our days bloom brighter when we see your smiling faces. Volunteers like you make the world a better place. You’ve earned a garden of thanks!

Current Events:

Our volunteers are considered part of the greater DFW Airport family. As you’ve seen across the country, people are coming together to make a difference from a distance. And our volunteers are talented, too! If you are interested in using your creative skills to sew homemade, washable face coverings as a volunteer activity, donating them to front-line DFW Airport employees, please let us know.

Any hours spent sewing washable face coverings will count towards your volunteer hours, just as if you were donating your time in the terminals. Please use multiple layers of cotton material for each face covering. We do encourage creativity in both color and/or pattern, while maintaining a professional look!

The Ambassador Office will connect with you to ensure your donated, washable face coverings are delivered to the Airport in the safest way possible, limiting your contact.

For more information, please contact Betsy Morrison at emorrison@dfwairport.com or 972-973-7010. If you decide to participate, please share your photos, too!

We heard your voice!

Earlier this year, volunteers were asked to complete a survey about their volunteer experience at DFW Airport. We appreciate those who took the time to complete the survey!

Our team will host a conference call open to all volunteer to discuss the outcome of the survey.

You can RSVP for the DFW Volunteer Survey Results – Conference Call in the volunteer management system at https://volunteer.dfwairport.com/

Monday, April 20th, at 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday, April 22nd, at 10:30 a.m.

Using this time to try out new recipes, tend to your lawn and garden, or learn a new hobby or skill? We would love to see your smiling faces! This includes our K-9 Crew, too!

Share your photos with us by sending them to Cristina at cfraker@dfwairport.com
